How to Make Chain Maille Jewelry

When you hear the word chainmaille, you may think of the armour worn in Medieval times, but you can also use this to make great looking and unique jewelry.  Chainmaille is the process of weaving metal rings called jump rings together to create unique pieces of jewelry.  I'm going to share two links to make the two weaves in the picture above.

The one on the left is a basic weave called the 2 by 2.  It is usually the basis of basic chains.  It's simple to make and really pretty once the piece is done.  Here in the picture, I've made a bracelet and a matching set of earrings.  Here is the link to a youtube video for this weave as well as two other weaves:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8C0iDqTEVI

The one on the right is a little more challenging, but once you get started, it is pretty easy.  This is called the helm weave.  It looks unique and elegant.  I've also made a bracelet and set of earrings in this weave.  Here is the link for this weave:  http://www.gossamerwingsdesigns.com/Jump-Rings-Chain-Maille-weave-helm-chain.htm

I hope you enjoyed this post. Thanks for reading.

Tutorials

Hi all!

So I've decided that I should put up some of the tutorials I  use for my projects.  Each week, I will post a new project along with the link of the tutorial I used to make it.  I do sometimes tweak the pattern a bit, but when I do, I will let you know.  This will start soon, I have been busy with school starting back and have found some great new tutorials and projects I want to start working on.  This will come in especially handy with Christmas coming up and I like to get a head start on buying/making any Christmas gifts. Thanks so much for stopping by today.

Loom Bracelets

I've gotten into the loom bracelets.  My daughter received one for Christmas and it was a little difficult for her, but I've made them and there are so many different patterns for these looms.  We have the Crazy Loom that Toys-R-Us sales.  Here is one bracelet that we've made.  It has flowers that are made of pony beads.  This one was a little more advanced than others, but YouTube had alot of tutorials on these kinds of bracelets.  These are fun to make and give as gifts or to sell for a little extra money.  Thanks for reading.

Fabric Flowers

I enjoy making lots of different crafts.   One craft I have to look difficult is really very simple.  It's the fabric flower shown below.  I found the tutorial on YouTube.  Here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PY3OjCPDXJk.  You can use any kind of fabric on hand.  These were made with an old dress my youngest daughter outgrew.  You can use these flowers to decorate any craft project.  These particular flowers were made into pins and now decorate a crocheted bag for my daughter.   Thank you for reading.

Bracelets and Beads

I have been making friendship bracelets.  My daughter loves them.   I use beads with them as well.  Here are three that I have made.  The top one is a crocheted bracelet .  The middle is one I just threw together from some extra string.  I had nine strings tied together so I braided three different braids with two different colors on each and then braided those three together.  The bottom one is one I made from square knots alternated with beads and closed with a button.  I got the pattern for the top bracelet here:  HTTP://www.1dogwoof.com/2013/04/crochet-beaded-friendship-bracelet.html.  The bottom bracelet I just threw together as well.  There are several tutorials out there for the square knot.

Crocodile Stitch Purse

Hey there.  I have been kinda busy with end of the year school stuff.  I am posting this purse I made.  It's a crocodile stitch purse.  I love the colors and the way it turned out.  I used a video tutorial from the Crochet Crowd on Youtube.  They have a lot of useful videos from beginning to crochet to advanced crochet and more.

Striped Afghan

Okay, I'm back.  I had to keep my arm in a sling for about two weeks.  I've started a new afghan project for my oldest.  It's one she helped me design.  It's green and black (her room colors).  I think its coming along great, if not a bit slowly.  Here is what I've got so far.
It's only about half done.  The little strings you see are my stitch markers.  Thanks for reading.
